Marine World Heritage March Successes

The experts working for programme, which oversees conservation of the world’s most significant and beloved ocean places, are restless. In March, the coordinator of the programme, Fanny Douvre shared a number of good news.

First off, saving vaquita cause had new updates— the Gulf of California, home of the endangered vaquita, might be placed on the UNESCO List of World Final decision will be made in July.

In addition, Aldobara Atoll where World Heritage saved green turtle population from extinction, is now planned for a new marine protected area, that will cover 5.7% of the Seychelles exclusive economic zone. The program also launched its annual review of World Heritage sites, the draft decisions will be made public in May.
