Imagine a place. A place swathed in marble, from the eclectically lit grand entryway to the heated floors of the bathrooms. A place with butler’s assigned to every room, and thick, fluffy robes and slippers for every guest. A place where each night from the rooftop restaurant you can look over a glittering view of the city of Milan. The place you’re imaging in the Excelsior Hotel Gallia, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan; a hotel of dreams, in business since 1932, and located in the heart of one of a city renowned for its creativity.

Already a well-known venue, Excelsior Hotel Gallia has long since been one of the most prestigious hotels in Italy. A prize of belle époque architecture, it has done decades worth of business with the social elite of the country since it’s opening on February 29th, 1932, a legacy not let down by the hotel throughout all the changes the country has been through since. It was at the age of just 17 that Carlo Gallia, owner of the hotel, left the Gallia family to learn ‘the art of the guest’, working all over Europe for 15 years before founding the hotel. Taking great care in all aspects of his business Carlo created a lavish example of everything an Italian luxury hotel should be.

Recently renovated and expanded, the hotel itself is a work of art, modern in styling while never loosing touch with its belle époque sophistication. Under the styling oversight of Milan native Marco Piva, the hotel, rather than reinventing itself, blossomed into beautiful marriage of modern architecture and design with classic Italian style. Specially commissioned light installations uniquely created for this hotel combined with the precisely placed windows play with natural and artificial light throughout the design. Eclectic piece from collections created by Zonca Illuminazione, Fabbian and La Murrina light the rooms and suites and an immense 30 meter glass staircase

chandelier by Murano cascades light throughout all floors of the hotel from the Grand Lobby staircase. Elegant furniture born from collaborations between various Milanese designers fill the space with more than 500 art pieces, from paintings to sculptures, especially designed by Marco Piva for the Excelsior Hotel Gallia decorate the rooms with every guest room housing beautiful custom pieces by one of Italy’s top furniture makers.

And even beyond the architecture and décor the hotel continues to offer a unique and luxurious experience for guests. The site of the first Shiseido Spa to come to Italy, it provides a ‘private refuge of total relaxation with multisensory treatments and superb amenities for your beauty and wellness.’ Boasting ten different suite classifications each with its own unique styling, Excelsior Hotel Gallia, has something for anyone from the Premium Suite, which at approximately 30㎡ offers luxury and relaxation to the Katana sweet, which, at 1000㎡, is not only one of the largest suites available in an Italian hotel and sleeps 8 people, offers guests the ‘epitome of quintessential refinement’ as well as unique décor unlike any other hotel.

Following its grand history as an ideal destination to experience a stay filled with luxury and refinement, the Excelsior Hotel Gallia remains one of Italy’s treasures.
